While most internet savvy people are familiar with the 3 main local searches (Google, Yahoo, & Live) there are several others small businesses can tap into to help build brand awareness and drive traffic through their doors. We have found three local sites that we believe will benefit your business:

Insiderpages: The Inside Scoop : While more extensive and less simplified the Insiderpages is a great place to find businesses in your area. While it may have too many ads, it is free to post a general listing and updating to a sponsored result is available for those who wish to be more aggressive with their listing. On a listing you are presented with some great information including reviews, a map and a list of nearby businesses. Also note an additional way to promote your business is by using the special offers. This gets your business more real estate on the website and brings more traffic to your profile and ideally your website or actual business.

Mojo Pages: People Powered Yellow Pages: This site is a bit different then most of the local search sites as its premise is People Powered Yellow Pages. What this site attempts to do is bring in the local element with the community social networking element to create a more powerful site for you to use and become involved in. Users are able to post much more then reviews. They can post video reviews, have conversations, and request reviews in addition to participating in groups, with friends and coupons.

TrueLocal: More Find, less Search: The great thing about TrueLocal is just how simple and easy it is to use and find. You type in your search and out comes the answer quickly. There isn’t much too say about this one because of its simplicity.

While these sites may not be the top players in the local search right now, they are growing fairly quickly and those that decide to adopt early are the ones who see the most benefit. Getting listing on these will help you in growing your business.
