Co-Founder Garrett Gravesen will return to visit the orphanage in Africa where he found his inspiration to co-found H.E.R.O. and will launch a global initiative to rally a generation around service. We are currently using an executive search firm, LG & Associates, to identify the next Executive Director and will remain full-time with the organization until mid-August so that we can provide a proper transition to the next Executive Director.

We want to thank you for always supporting H.E.R.O. and we know that with your continued involvement, one day thousands of children affected by HIV/AIDS in our state and beyond will receive the Quality of Life that they deserve.

Best regards,

Ryan Gembala and Garrett Gravesen
Co-Founders and Co-Executive Directors
H.E.R.O. for Children
www.heroforchildren.org

Ron Clark has been called "America's Educator." His work with disadvantaged students in rural North Carolina and in inner-city Harlem garnered worldwide attention, and he was invited to the White House on three separate occasions to be honored by the President and Mrs. Clinton. Mr. Clark's tireless work and dedication to making a difference in the lives of children led him to be named Disney's American Teacher of the Year in 2000. Since receiving that distinction, he has been interviewed by Katie Couric on the Today Show, and he has appeared twice on the Oprah Winfrey Show. Ms. Winfrey even featured him in her magazine and named him her first "Phenomenal Man." In addition, Ron’s experiences as a teacher are the subject of the critically acclaimed movie, “The Ron Clark Story,” that stars Matthew Perry in the lead role.

Ron has authored two books that have become extremely popular in the education profession. His first book, The Essential 55, is a New York Times Best Seller and is currently published in over 25 countries and in its 11th printing of over one million copies.

Most recently, Ron is devoting the majority of his time to opening a school in Atlanta for students from low-wealth areas. The Ron Clark Academy will truly be unique as it applies a curriculum that is based on travel around the world. Each year the students will journey on international adventures, and by the time they are in 8th grade each child will have visited every continent.

As Ron arranges funding for his school, he has traveled across the country, visiting 49 of the 50 states. He has become a leader in education and a voice for teachers. His message is one of hope, dedication, and the will to never let anything stand in the way of your hopes and dreams. Visit The Ron Clark Academy
